If you are unable to lower both armrests and/or compromise any portion of adjacent seat or aisle you should book two seats prior to travel. The armrest is considered to be the definitive boundary between seats. Additionally, armrests (when fully lowered) are viewed as providing a measure of safety by restricting the seat occupant's lateral (side-to-side) movement.
